Conserve Electricity

Conserve energy and save money from your water heaters. Your hot water heater is the second largest energy consumer in the home. Using it efficiently can add up to big savings.

· All exposed hot water pipes should be insulated to ensure heat doesn’t escape from the pipes. Also, if the water heater is in a very cool area, it should be covered or insulated even more thoroughly to avoid loss of heat and to conserve electricity.

· The thermostat on most water heaters is normally set at 140°. You will find a setting of 125° is a much more efficient way how to save energy.

· If a hot water is not required on a continuous basis, one tip is to turn the water heater off or have a on/off timer wired into the circuit.

· Where hot water pipes run through walls and underground ensure there are no leaks in the pipes. Leaky faucets will make a dent in your hot water bill, so repair them as soon as possible. The constant drip wastes much water, energy and wastes money.
